Film fans are in for a treat as we launch new Film Nights @ The Lightbox which will run every 2nd Thursday of the month. In keeping with our 10th anniversary celebrations, the theme of the first season is ‘a decade of Great British Cinema’ from 2007 to the present day.
This month's screening is Brick Lane (2007):
The film tells the story of Nazneen, who at the age of 17 moved from rural Bangladesh to Brick Lane, London, for an arranged marriage. Married to a man she does not love, Nazneen lives vicariously through the letters she receives from her sister back in Bangladesh about her carefree life. The film begins 16 years into an unhappy marriage with two daughters, when a young, good-looking man named Karim comes into Nazneen's life.
