Mary Moore and Peter Murray CBE

Mary Moore set up the Henry Moore Trust in 1972 and she is pivotal in safeguarding her father’s legacy. Along with her mother Irina Moore, Mary was one of the founding Trustees of The Henry Moore Foundation which in 1977 was set up to encourage public appreciation of the visual arts, and in particular the works of Henry Moore. Peter Murray is the founding and Executive Director of Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP), one of the world’s leading sculpture parks, attracting over 350,000 visitors a year. YSP showcases one of the largest displays of open-air bronzes by Henry Moore in Europe. Born in the nearby Yorkshire town of Castleford, Moore often referred to the influence of the West Yorkshire landscape on his development as a young artist and visited YSP in the 1970s, when he expressed a strong interest in siting his work in the Country Park.
