The History of Puppetry

Imagining an inner life in apparently inanimate objects, from the Sun and the Moon to the teddy bear, has been part of the human condition since time began. In this talk, puppetry expert Penny Francis will explore the enduring appeal of puppetry, including how children like to act as puppeteers and how most of us as adults are enthralled by seeing puppets ‘brought to life’, like Joey and Topthorn in the stage production of War Horse.

Advance booking required. Doors open 30 minutes before the start of evening talks. Wine and juice is available to purchase at evening talks.

Friends of The Lightbox and members of the Supporters Club enjoy a 40% discount (excludes Director's Choice talks).
