Are you aged 13 – 19 and interested in art and how museums and galleries work? Perhaps you are thinking of a career in the arts? If so, then Young Curators is for you. As well as providing an opportunity to be creative, each project takes you behind the scenes and gives an insight into how an exhibition is put together and who is involved. Young Curators is a great way of getting an Arts Award, it’s good for CVs and personal statements and it’s a lot of fun.
In these sessions the Young Curators will work with artist Stuart Simler to create some exciting, original artwork, which will then be displayed alongside the ‘Warhol and the World of Pop Art’ exhibition. Young Curators will take inspiration from the artists in the exhibition and then create their own strong images using photomontage, drawing and other layering techniques. They will then make individual sculptural forms, resulting in a collaborative, Pop Art inspired piece curated by the group.
No previous experience required.
Limited spaces available, advance booking required. All materials provided. Please remember to add the Young Curator's name and age when booking.
Thursdays 4, 11, 18, 25 June, 4.30 – 6.30pm, with optional free session to install the work on Thursday 16 July
