Young Curators is for 13-19 year olds who are interested in learning more about art and how galleries and museums work. The group meet to work on projects related to upcoming exhibitions. This might be working with a professional artist to create your own artworks to be displayed in the gallery, or working with the learning and curatorial team to develop an exhibition. The Lightbox is an Arts Award centre, so you can also work towards a Bronze, Silver or Gold Arts Award. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, get creative and have something unique on your CV.
Sculpture and Henry Moore
In this next project, Young Curators will explore the work of Henry Moore and learn how to create sculptures inspired by his love of natural forms. Working with professional artist Russell Jakubowski, you will use clay, plaster, and wire, so be prepared to get messy! The sculptures created will then be displayed alongside the ‘Henry Moore: A Natural History’ exhibition.
Thursday 8, 15 December (2016), 5, 12 January (2017) and optional session on 19 January 2017 to install exhibition, 4.30pm – 6.30pm
£25 for 4 sessions
Young Curators is kindly supported by The Ernest Cook Trust.
