Young Curators is for 13-19 year olds who are interested in learning more about art and how galleries and museums work. The group meet to work on projects related to upcoming exhibitions. This might be working with a professional artist to create their own artworks to be displayed in the gallery, or working with the learning and curatorial team to develop an exhibition. The Lightbox is an Arts Award centre, so you can also work towards a Bronze, Silver or Gold Arts Award. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, get creative, have something unique on your CV and eat chocolate biscuits!
In this project the Young Curators will be making amazing selfies. They will work with renowned portrait artist, Robin-Lee Hall and use photography and painting to create exciting and unusual images of themselves. The work they produce will be displayed alongside ‘The Ingram Collection: Bodies!’ exhibition. The Young Curators will also have the opportunity to develop a fun, hands-on activity for visitors to the exhibition.
Thursdays 22 October, 5, 12, 19 November 2015, 4.30pm – 6.30pm
£18 for four sessions
