For this project, the Young Curators will be able to make their own zine in response to artists, works, and themes in the Women in Photography: A History of British Trailblazers exhibition. Zines are small DIY publications associated with radical movements and groups, often used to share ideas about topics not dealt with in mainstream media.
The workshop will introduce the basics of zine making, exploring different types of zines and self-published works, before leading to creating your own sections of a new collaborative publication which will be on offer for visitors to read here at The Lightbox.
Sofia Niazi from One of My Kind (OOMK) will be leading the Young Curators to learn more about collaborative publishing practice. Sofia along with her partners, co-curates DIY Cultures, one of the UK’s largest annual independent publishing fairs.
