Opening this Saturday 20 May, we're very excited for our latest exhibition with The Ingram Collection. In Their Own Words: Artists' Voices from The Ingram Collection will display some of the most inspiring highlights of the collection, spanning sculpture, paintings and sketches, with an audio added bonus.

While enjoying the artworks, you can listen to audio recordings of the artists themselves, reminiscing on their childhoods, early inspirations, first forays into art, and much more. This exhibition is such a unique way of feeling a more personal insight and connection with the people behind the art, and we can't wait to share it with you all.

See below for an introduction to the exhibition by Jo Baring, Director of The Ingram Collection, and a look behind the scenes as we set up the show this week.

Behind the Scenes: Setting up the Sound Dome

It was a long way up for our Exhibitions team to install the new sound dome! Once hooked up to the (rather high!) ceiling, the sound dome hangs above the centre of the exhibition space. Stand under the dome while you browse the exhibition, and you'll be able to hear recordings from artists such as William Gear, Eileen Agar and Elisabeth Frink.

There will also be headphones and seating areas spread around the gallery to enjoy listening to the recordings at your own leisure.

In Their Own Words: Artists' Voices from The Ingram Collection is open 20 May - 30 July 2017. Entry with a £4.50 Day Pass or £7.50 Annual Pass.
