One good incident, or funny incident, which I can certainly relate to you which, of course, being the month of Ramadan now, in those days it used to be also in winter. So people used to get up early in the morning and they would go visiting each others' houses at four o'clock in the morning and the police started arresting them, not realising what they are doing, okay?

Now that was the period when my wife and I slowly and gradually started participating in the local life, if I can use that word, in the sense that my wife started interpretation for one of the doctor's surgery. We formed a little association known as the Pakistani Cultural Group. And police were actually looking for somebody from the community with whom they could liaise and understand what were the reason.

So when these guys got arrested, Mr. Zahir went to the police station and said "Why have you arrested them?" They said, ‘Well, they are roaming around on the road, they are roaming around on the road at four o'clock in the morning’ you know, so he has to explain to them. Once that explaining was done, police then understood it and then, we slowly and gradually got involved with the police and if there was a person arrested and there was a need for an interpreter my wife would go or I would go or Mr. Zahir would go and help them, with the interpretation and so on and so forth.
