Taste of Art, Christiane Zschommler

The Lightbox gallery and museum is pleased to present ‘Taste of Art’, a display of work by local and regional artists. Changing monthly, the ‘Taste of Art’ features established artists, all noted for their quality of work. ‘Taste of Art’ strives to offer an exciting mix of paintings, original limited edition prints, textile and mixed media work.

All works on display are available to purchase from The Lightbox Gift Shop, where there is also a large selection of unframed work by the artists.

The current Taste of Art features the stunning photography of Christiane Zschommler:

I was born in East Berlin, growing up in the 1960s beneath the shadow of the Berlin Wall, where I was a self-taught passionate documentary photographer. Moving to London in the early 90s and while studying at University of Westminster my photographic work from this point went on a journey of rediscovery and transformation, replacing the grainy black-and-white documentary style photography with expressive photographic work in colour.

Since moving away from London in 2004 and living on the canal in Surrey I am strongly drawn to and influenced by the potential of water and wood.

The images shown in these exhibition were photographed in the local surroundings of the Basingstoke Canal in West-Byfleet Surrey throughout the seasons.

Christiane Zschommler's photographs will be on display in The Lightbox Café from 20 January – 1 March 2015, all works on show will be available to buy.
