Taste of Art, Caroline Rees

The Lightbox gallery and museum is pleased to present ‘Taste of Art’, a display of work by local and regional artists. Changing monthly, the ‘Taste of Art’ features established artists, all noted for their quality of work. ‘Taste of Art’ strives to offer an exciting mix of paintings, original limited edition prints, textile and mixed media work.

All works on display are available to purchase from The Lightbox Gift Shop, where there is also a large selection of unframed work by the artists.

The current Taste of Art features the beautiful and striking papercuts of Caroline Rees:

Designer & glass artist Caroline Rees works from her studio near the beach on the beautiful Gower Peninsula. Originally trained as a textile designer her creative journey has included the design of fabrics, glass and paper. She began using her stencil technique to create architectural sandblasted glass about 12 years ago and has undertaken numerous commissions for public and private spaces. More recently she has employed the same skills to create intricate yet striking papercuts, enjoying the immediacy and lack of technical constraints which are associated with glass. Seeking to capture and exaggerate the decorative elements in architecture and landscape the compositions are inspired by her coastal surroundings and everyday domestic scenes.

Caroline Rees’ papercuts will be on display in The Lightbox Café from 9 December 2014 until 18 January 2015, all works on show will be available to buy.
