This summer we are excited to announce that we will launch a new bumper Family Fun Festival which will run for the first two-weeks of the school holidays from Tues 26 - Fri 29 July and Tues 2 – Fri 5 August 2016.

Each morning and afternoon there will be a fun-filled family workshop. On offer will be a number of free drop-in workshops such as Balloon Modelling, a Giant Dinosaur Collage, making a Theatrical Mask, Circus Skills workshops, nostalgic large-scale Garden Games and Bubble Fun and Face Paint Fridays!

If you prefer to plan in advance, there are also a wide selection of bookable workshops available. Get inspiration from the impressive architecture of The Lightbox and create your own Fantastic Structure, create characters, props, scenery and a mini theatre stage in Theatre in a Box, make your own Printed Scrapbook to keep your favourite holiday memories in, design your very own celestial Summertime Clock, or come to a mid-morning matinee family screening of the critically acclaimed Pixar film ‘The Incredibles’.

Also new for 2016 is an exciting collaboration with Guildford Shakespeare Society who will create a site-specific ‘Play in a Week’ performance of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ in the first week of the holidays, perfect for budding 7 – 11 year old actors.

From the 6 August families will also be able to explore the history of storytelling in art in the summer exhibition, ‘The Story of British Comics So Far: Cor! By Gum! Zarjaz!’. Zara and her grandfather Alan, comic characters especially created for this exhibition by up-and-coming female designer Asia Alfasi, will lead visitors through three immersive zones which will explore the history of British comics to date.
