Whilst many are self-isolating following government advice, finding ways to boost wellbeing and feel good at home are imperative towards maintaining healthy bodies and minds.

Getting creative with the kids is a great way to keep them entertained for hours and help their imaginations continue to run wild while staying at home. Over the course of our closure, we'll be sharing quick and easy-to-follow guides for fun family crafts using bits and pieces from around the house.

Make your own Pop Up Cards or books using recycled paper in this step-by-step guide.

Equipment needed:

• Coloured paper or card
• Magazines
• Scissors
• Glue
• Pens and/or pencils

Got everything? Let's get started.

1. Begin by folding your coloured paper or card into a concertina shape, as pictured.

2. Fold your concertina in half to make a fan and glue the now-touching middle pieces of the fan together.

3. Fold a piece of card in half and glue the edges of the fan either side of your fold, so that the fan opens and closes with the card.

4. Draw some flower shapes on your magazine or coloured paper and cut them out. You can also use plain paper with your own drawings for this. Please ask an adult if you need help cutting out your shapes.

5. Glue the flowers to the top of the fan.

6. Decorate the rest of the card with your own drawings and greetings. When you're finished, close your card. When you open it, the fan of flowers will pop up!

Why not make a few and stick them together to create a pop up book? You can draw different things on each card to tell a story. Don't forget to tag us in your creations on social media - we'd love to see what you've made!
