This week our new October 2016 – March 2017 What's On programme arrived. With a variety of special events, arts and crafts workshops, exhibition tours, and inspiring talks throughout the year, it shows why we are so much more than just a gallery. Tours

Join us for an amazing behind the scenes look at The Story of British Comics So Far: Cor! By Gum! Zarjaz!on Wednesday 19 October. A member of our Lightbox team will provide fascinating insight into the themes behind the exhibition. Advance booking is required and participants will require a £5 Annual Pass, under 18s are free.

Talks

Another highlight from our new What’s On includes our comics-themed Fundraising Talks. On 8 October following the one-off ‘Comiket: Independent Comics Market’, celebrate the visionary genius of Frank Hampson, creator of Eagle’s ‘Pilot of the Future’ Dan Dare, with his son Peter Hampson as he reveals the secrets of his father’s life and work or. Alternatively join the very first Comic Laureate, Dave Gibbons (26 October), as he discusses his work on infamous comics such as Batman, Superman, and Watchmen. Advanced booking is required for all talks and all proceeds of both these talks will go to The Lightbox charity.

Comics Week!

October half term (25 October-28 October) will be ‘Comics Week’ and it will be jam packed with fun activities for children. Drop-in to one of our free family workshops or join us for a screening of critically acclaimed Dream Works film Over the Hedge’. Advanced booking required.

Events

We have a range of diverse events to look forward to including our always popular Restorative Yoga Workshops (18 December, 22 January, 26 March). Relax with experienced Yoga teacher Ruth McNeil as she leads you through the practice of mindful movement and soothing restorative yoga. Advanced booking is required.

If you are looking for a cheap and cheerful way to spend your evening our Joke in the Box (every last Thursday of the month) stand-up comedy nights are perfect for you. For just £6 or £11 with a beef or falafel burger, you can laugh the night away. Advanced booking is required.

Get ahead with your Christmas shopping and come to our free Arts and Craft Fair, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November, perfect for craft lovers and shopaholics alike. This event will feature a variety of handmade crafts including jewellery, paintings, glass-work, and ceramics created by local artists. Know that your gifts to your friends will be unique and original.

Continue with more Christmas joy at our Festive Fun at the Lightbox (24 November). We will be celebrating the holiday season and the switch on of Woking’s Christmas lights with a free evening of festive fun! Visit the galleries and museum for free for one night only. With a choir and minced pies there isn’t a better way to get into the Christmas spirt.
