Regular visitors to the gallery may have noticed a new addition to The Lightbox Shop – a brand new wall display of art works by local and regional artists all for sale. This refresh allows us to better show off the selection of brilliant works we have available for sale which helps to support us as a charity and local artists.

The display stocks a number of previous Café Gallery artists including Caroline Rees, Stephanie Wilkinson, Iona MacKenzie Laycock, BiroRobot, Stacey Allan and Sarah Fenner. So if you loved Stacey Allan’s colourful ‘Cookery Birds’ prints, Iona MacKenzie Laycock’s landscape inspired textiles or Caroline’s Rees’ intricate paper cuttings, pop in and have a look. There is also a great selection from regional artists Patricia George, Jennie Ing, Katie Sollohub and Sue Brown.

With prices beginning at just £12, this is affordable, accessible art and even better – all purchases help to support The Lightbox’s learning and community programme and the artists. You can also support galleries and artists with the #justacard campaign which is very close to our hearts. The campaign began after the shop assistant of a recently closed gallery said that “if everyone who complimented our beautiful gallery had bought just a card we’d still be open”. Just a card intends to demonstrate to people that every purchase, no matter how small is significant. By buying an affordable piece of art from our display, you will support the local artists that we stock and contribute to helping us to continue to bring arts and heritage to Woking.

Keep an eye out for our ‘Artist in Focus’ feature coming soon. We will pick one of the local artists featured in our Shop art display and speak to them to find out what inspires them and how they create their art works.
