It's been a big week at The Lightbox, as we've seen the arrival of artworks by one of Britain's greatest painters - J.M.W. Turner. Our new exhibition Turner in Surrey is bringing together oil paintings, watercolours and sketches that the artist created in the county, for the very first time ever! We've had some huge pieces to install, and cannot wait for you all to see the stunning result. In the meantime, here's a look behind the scenes:

Thomson's Aeolian Harp might have been one of the biggest paintings we've carried up the stairs yet.

Next up, thinking about getting it on the wall.

And it's up!

Aeolian Harp hung, suddenly we had a conveyor belt of Turners coming in.

It's not just paintings - the exhibition also includes a number of Turner's possessions including his fishing rod, paint palette, and this book of engravings, depicting his Twickenham home Sandycombe Lodge.

The River Thames, Wey and Wey Navigation snake their way around the gallery walls, painstakingly designed by our exhibitions team.

Time to fix the lighting = time to get the cherry picker out.
