It might not be the Christmas we were hoping for in 2020, but why not take some time out to get creative and add some festive cheer to your decorations with these really simple, but super effective 3D Reindeer.

You will need:

• White paper or thin card
• Light brown paper or thin card
• Colouring pens
• Scraps of white paper or card
• Scissors
• Glue

Got everything? Let’s get started!

First, cut your brown paper or card to the same size as your white paper or card. Ours is about A6 size, so an A4 piece of paper folded in quarters. But you can make yours as big or small as you like. The white will be the base of the reindeer, and the brown is going to make its body and head.

Cut the brown paper into two strips. One needs to be a little wider than the other.

Take the thinner strip of brown paper and glue it to make a circle. You might need to hold it while the glue dries, or peg it with a clothes peg. Set it to one side – this will be the head so we will come back to it later.

Now take the thicker strip of brown and bend it in half lengthways. Hold it tightly while you cut a ‘U’ shape. This makes the body and legs.

Fold the bottom of the legs over to make feet. Remember they all need to face the same direction!

Glue the hind legs to the white card first, then arch the body over and glue the front legs down.

Colour in all four of the hooves.

Cut out a tail shape and glue it to the back of your reindeer.

Then find your head you made earlier and glue it to the front of your reindeer.

Use your scraps of white paper to cut out two antlers and three circles, two for the eyes, and one for the nose. Colour them in and glue them on.

There you have it! Now you know how to make them you could make lots of coloured reindeer. Start with different size card or paper to make reindeer of different sizes. Smaller card will make a smaller reindeer, but be careful, smaller reindeer can be a bit fiddly to make. You don’t have to use brown paper either, what about making a whole herd of brightly coloured reindeer?
