What's On Talks and Tours Art History Talks: Salvador Dalí These informal talks with Melanie Paice and Peter Scott will encourage discussion and debate that discuss a mixture of themes in art and the artists themselves. Melanie is an artist, art tutor, and lecturer and Peter is a guide and lecturer, they both have led tours at Tate Britain and Tate Modern for over 20 years. Salvador Dalí was born in Figueres in Catalonia and knew from a very early age that he wanted to be a painter. After gaining great technical skills, he became a leading Surrealist painter. Surrealist artists and writers believed that reality could be understood only through knowledge of the subconscious.
