'Sleeping Man (Version 2)', a larger-than-life painted sculpture, by internationally renowned artist Sean Henry goes on display in The Lightbox courtyard from 11 August. The sculpture, an anonymous man shown sleeping in his bed, is placed en plein air  near the main entrance of the building.

Henry’s works are individually painted by the artist using oil paint on the sculpture’s resin surface. Each sculpture is like a three-dimensional painting, and the technique makes it possible for Henry to infuse his works with personality and character.

Sean Henry: In The Studio

Following his 2017 retrospective at The Lightbox, Sean Henry returns to his place of birth to delight the public with yet another of his outdoor works.

'Sleeping Man' was first designed back in 2011, together with another of the artist’s sculptures, 'Standing Man' which can be viewed in Woking's Jubilee Square. The two sculptures present as each other’s counterpart – separated only by a short walk to and from city centre.
