Starting from 6 November 2019 Woking Borough Council works will begin near the back entrance of The Lightbox gallery and museum next to Chobham Road Bridge to install a new pedestrian and cycle footbridge spanning the Basingstoke Canal. The new bridge will unite the two sides of the canal towpath and once completed will mean that pedestrians and cyclists no longer need to cross the busy Chobham Road.

Please be aware that The Lightbox car park is required to facilitate the Woking Borough Council works and will therefore be closed to all vehicles for the duration of the works.  The Lightbox will remain open as usual and pedestrian access to the back visitor entrance of the building will be maintained throughout. The works are expected to be completed by end of summer 2020 when the car park will reopen.

Brewery Road is the closest pay and display car park, located underneath the WWF Headquarters on Brewery Road. Also close by is Victoria Way and the Peacock Centre car park.

For the duration of the works The Lightbox has three designated disabled parking spaces available at Brewery Road car park which volunteers and visitors are welcome to book in advance. If you would like to book a space, please call Reception on 01483 737837 or speak to a member of staff when visiting.

Group visits will be able to drop off outside Brewery Road car park. For more information on booking a group visit that requires a drop off please contact us on 01483 737800.

Alternatively, Blue Badge holders who live in the Borough of Woking can apply for a proximity card for free town centre parking. More details can be found on the Woking Borough Council website here
