Open Mind is a partnership between The Lightbox and Catalyst Surrey to provide relaxed bi-monthly tours of current exhibitions. Each time we look at different artworks and discuss the artists' lives in an interactive tour that is used as a way to foster inclusion and participation.

These tours encourage discussion and debate and increase self-esteem for those who attend. Learning about the art or heritage on display spreads knowledge and confidence through those who attend.

You can hear more about Open Mind in a few ways;

  • By listening to the Art Engager Podcast, where the host, Claire Bown chats to Heather about how looking at art can improve your health and wellbeing. You can listen here.
  • or, you can read a Case Study in the Baring Foundation Report, Creatively Minded at the Museum about how museums can engage creatively with people with mental health problems. You can read it on page 44, here
