This week we are taking part in the national celebrations for the annual Volunteers Week. Volunteers at The Lightbox fulfil a wide range of roles from greeting visitors, helping to preserve the Heritage Collection, acting as tour guides and lending a hand at special events. We are proud to be part of the scheme which dedicates the first week of June to thanking those who generously offer their time and skills.

We chatted to some of our many volunteers and asked them, 'what do you enjoy most about volunteering at The Lightbox?'

“Coming from a non-artistic professional background, I have found volunteering at The Lightbox an invaluable learning experience. The huge range of works on display has taught me so much about art in general. I was first drawn to The Lightbox because it is such a beautiful building and I have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering”

I have learned so much since starting 18 months ago, particularly about Modern art. I always look forward to coming here to see what I can learn next – and to enjoying the best cup of coffee in Woking!”
