It's half term and we all know that we are not able to go out and about as much as we would like this year and that there has been a fair few things to think about. So why not make your own Worry Pal, so that you can write any worries you have down and put them inside, for them to look after your worries for you. You can create your own character with ears, or wings, or a hat to keep all the worries out of sight, this is a chance for you to be creative with the project.

You will need:

  • Toilet roll tube
  • Coloured Papers
  • White paper
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Felt tip pens
  • Glue stick

Got everything? Let’s get started!

Start by wrapping coloured paper around your toilet roll tube. You can choose any colour you like or you could decide to paint it.  You will just need to wait for it to dry before you move on.

You can then cut away any excess paper, by cutting down from the top of the paper to the toilet roll tube and across.

Now, you can make some feet if you like. Just remember to leave a bit of excess at the back so that you can tuck it in.

To do this. You will need to cut into the back piece and glue it inside the tube. You could also just add lots of glue to the base of the toilet roll tube and stick it directly onto the paper if you prefer.

Now to make some hands. Draw a hand on a piece or paper, fold it over and cut, this way you end up with two hands exactly the same. You can use a pipe cleaner as arms, or create arms with paper if you don't have any.

Use a pen or your finger to create curly ends to the pipe cleaner. Then add the hands with glue and use plenty of glue on the back of your toilet roll tube, to glue the pipe cleaner in place.

Now, for a face to give your Worry Pal some character. You can draw on white paper and glue these on, cut out coloured paper, or directly draw onto the toilet roll tube. It really does depend on what you want your Worry Pal to look like.

Now your finished, you can write your worries down on little pieces of paper and roll them up and add them into your Worry Pal. They will keep them safe for you and you can add it to whenever you like. After all, it's natural to worry and you can then have a little pal to help you if you don't feel ready to say them out loud yet. You could also turn this into a fun plans pal - write down all the fun things you want to do with your friends when you can.
