David Worthington is inspired by the Modernist sculpture of Moore, Hepworth and Epstein and science fiction TV shows such as Star Trek, Thunderbirds, Joe 90 and Dr Who. Using the imagery from space travel, UFOs and aliens, David explores the relationship between sculpture and science fiction. In science fiction our fears, fantasies and feelings regarding the ever greater presence of technology in our lives is played out. His work looks back nostalgically to the optimistic times where technology would make life better and safer, but with an irony that is unsettling.
