Job Title: Exhibitions Technician
Based at: The Lightbox, Chobham Road, Woking, GU21 4AA
Reports to: Operations Manager
Salary: £18,000 per annum, dependent on experience (full-time equivalent)

Hours: 30 to 37.5 hours a week (4-5 days per week). Weekend working and unsociable hours may be required.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The function of the Exhibitions Department is to assist the Director and Senior Management Team in the management of and accountability for The Lightbox collections, the management of all loans both to and from The Lightbox, the delivery of The Lightbox programme of exhibitions and displays, and the maintenance and development of the collections management systems. 

As a member of the Exhibitions Department, the main purpose of this post is to deliver The Lightbox's programme of exhibitions and displays, including managing The Art Fund Prize Gallery artist hires.

These responsibilities call for relevant experience, including a grasp of the principles of exhibitions management, together with strong communication skills and a broad knowledge of the technical, financial and legal issues involved in the safe handling, transport and display of works of art, gallery build and design. The post holder must have a flexible approach to the post and may sometimes be assigned to duties out of normal working hours. The role will be primarily involved in the installation of exhibitions and displays, the maintenance and storage of display equipment and materials and a range of technical tasks as required. The administration of The Art Fund Prize Gallery Artist Hires is also a key component of the role.

The post holder will work closely with the Exhibitions Manager, as well as the Exhibitions & Collections Officer and Building Technician. The individual will liaise with Marketing, Learning and Visitor Experience teams and a range of other staff and departments, as necessary.
