How we want to Live: A workshop for Women of Woking with artist duo YARA + DAVINA
Saturday 25th April 2-4pm
This is a free workshop but please book in advance.
Pausing to think about how we’d like to be remembered can be a surprisingly uplifting way to reconnect with how we want to live right now. We warmly invite 10 local women to take part in the creation of a new permanent public artwork for the Lightbox Gallery courtyard: a memorial bench titled Epitaphs for the Living.
As part of artist duo YARA + DAVINA’s exhibition 'Everything We Love We Will Lose', the artists will host a playful, reflective workshop exploring the art of epitaph writing. Together, we’ll write our own future epitaphs as an imaginative and empowering way to claim our stories and shape how we’re remembered. These words will be engraved on a bench installed in the Lightbox Gallery courtyard, forming a lasting public artwork.
This project celebrates and honours local women, voices so often missing from public memorials; and invites everyone who encounters the work to reflect on life, legacy, and what truly matters, encouraging us all to live more fully in the present.
