Join artist Philip Colbert and renowned art historian Professor Jean Wainwright for a revealing discussion, held within the spectacular surroundings of Philip Colbert’s The Lost Gardens of Lobsteropolis.
Surrounded by the exhibition’s monumental paintings, sculptures and installations, this special after-hours event offers a rare opportunity to hear Philip discuss his work, influences and distinctive approach to contemporary Pop Art.
Known for his iconic lobster alter ego, Philip creates a vivid hyper-Pop world in which art history, mythology, consumer culture and digital imagery collide. In conversation with Professor Wainwright, he will explore the development of his lobster persona, his fascination with art history and popular culture, and the ideas behind this ambitious exhibition.
Professor Jean Wainwright is an art historian, curator and highly experienced interviewer of contemporary artists. Her extensive knowledge of Pop Art and Andy Warhol makes her an ideal guide through Philip’s energetic and richly layered artistic universe.
This promises to be a fascinating and entertaining evening, offering fresh insight into the exhibition and the imagination of the artist behind it.
