The portraits and self-portraits on display at The Lightbox range from the early 20th century to the present day. By evaluating and analysing these portraits, students will develop an understanding of how artists respond to ideas of identity and culture through portraiture and how they fit into historical and contemporary contexts.

Students will then have the opportunity to develop their artistic skills by producing their own clay head to take away based on their own self-portrait drawings.
