Going Underground for Surrey Day 2026

Enjoy 2 for 1 admission

This Surrey Day, we’re taking inspiration from The Jam’s first UK number-one single, Going Underground, celebrating Woking’s hidden musical roots.

Back in the 1960s–80s, Woking had a thriving live music scene, with venues like the Atalanta Ballroom drawing major acts and supporting local talent.

One of those bands was The Jam, formed right here in town.

On display in Woking's Story, is a guitar owned by Paul Weller, signed and donated to the Lightbox Heritage collection.

Discover more at Lightbox Gallery & Museum, come uncover Woking's rich cultural history.
