Greenfield School Display
Wednesday 24 June 2026 to Sunday 18 October 2026
For generations, Greenfield School has been an important part of Woking’s educational and community life. As the school prepares to merge with Hoe Bridge School in September 2026, this display celebrates its remarkable history and lasting legacy.
Founded under the leadership of Alys Wilkinson in the 1930s and developed by Ruth Hicks and Joyce Pearce from 1948 onwards, Greenfield grew from a small local school into an award-winning co-educational preparatory school. The school also played a significant role in supporting refugee children through the Ockenden Venture, the charity established by Hicks, Pearce and Margaret Dixon in the 1950s, which continues today as Ockenden International.
Drawing on photographs, documents and memorabilia, this display reflects on the people, stories and values that have shaped Greenfield School over more than 90 years, and invites former pupils, staff and families to share in its memories.
