Make your very own fabulous fish from a humble kitchen or toilet roll tube you have lying around. You could make a whole school of fish, ready to swim together.

You will need:

  • Kitchen roll or 2 toilet roll tubes
  • Felt tip pens
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Colourful/patterned paper

Got everything? Let’s get started!

Cut your kitchen roll in half and flatten it slightly, before drawing a diagonal line on each corner of one half of your tube. Be sure to leave a gap between the lines. Cut a fin for your fish from the other piece of kitchen roll. If you are using toilet roll tubes, you will just need two of them.

Cut the corners off of your tube and cut out the fin. You may need some adult help if this is too tough to cut.

Decorate your fish. You can use felt tip pens or patterned paper or a mixture of the two. It is easier to decorate it before you glue it together.

Glue the fin to the end of the tube, by adding some glue to the top of the fin and then press the two sides of the fish over the fin. Hold it for a few seconds to make sure it is stuck down!

Now you can add some more fins to create your fish and you are done! What other types of fish could you make? How about a shark, or a whale?
