There are many reasons why a young person might want to volunteer at The Lightbox, including developing your social skills and confidence.

You may want to gain valuable work experience which can be useful for applying to jobs or for further education applications, and you can do all of this whilst contributing to your local community. Volunteering at The Lightbox can help you achieve all of these things as you work with either the Learning or Visitor Services teams.

The Learning & Engagement team works closely with all areas of the local community, from under 5s to older people. Our work wouldn’t be possible without the help of our wonderful team of volunteers.

The team runs workshops for schools, young people, families and adults, as well as a wide range of community programmes.

Schools & Families Volunteer Vacancy

This role supports the Learning and Engagement team with two of our core activities:

School Workshops

  • From storytelling to designing a gallery, our schools' workshops explore the artwork on display in the galleries or look into the history of Woking.
  • Through interactive tasks and practical making activities, these are exciting and stimulating workshops for all, even the volunteers!

Family Activities

  • During the school holidays, we run lots of engaging workshops for all ages. Either free drop-in crafts or bookable paid workshops.
  • These workshops are a great way to keep children entertained in the holidays, and also get their brains thinking about art and creativity.

This is an ad hoc volunteering opportunity with activities running particularly on weekdays during the day.

If you are interested in helping with our schools and family activities please read the Volunteer Role Descriptions on this page

Volunteering with our Visitor Experience team is also a great way to work towards your Duke of Edinburgh Award.
